Art-house cinema in Milano, Italy Part of Anteo · Opened 8 Sept 2017
Anteo's flagship in Piazza XXV Aprile (Porta Garibaldi/Brera). The original Anteo was founded in 1979 in via Milazzo 9 by Lionello Cerri, Maurizio Ballabio and Raimondo Paci, and from 1981 became known for first-run art-house films in the original language with Italian subtitles; it grew to three screens in 1997 and four in 2006. It reopened on 8 September 2017 as Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, expanded from 4 to 11 rooms across four floors (about 5,500 m², in a city-owned building leased for 28 years; architect Riccardo Rocco). There are nine regular cinema rooms, the MIRO Osteria del Cinema cinema-restaurant (Sala Nobel) and the on-demand Sala Ciak. Each room is named after a closed Milan cinema, chosen by public vote. Projection is 2K or 4K Barco/Cinemeccanica digital; one room (Astra) has Dolby Atmos. All rooms are step-free and take part in the MovieReading accessibility app. Sources: https://www.spaziocinema.info/mondo-anteo/la-storia, https://www.spaziocinema.info/cinema/le-sale/milano/anteo-palazzo-del-cinema, https://www.spaziocinema.info/cinema/notizie/anteo-palazzo-del-cinema, https://cinecittanews.it/il-nuovo-anteo-palazzo-del-cinema-da-4-a-10-sale/, https://www.milanotoday.it/cultura/anteo-palazzo-cinema.html.
