Cinema Eliseo

Commercial multiplex in Turin, Italy Part of Circuito Cinema Torino · Opened 1 Jan 1913

Italy's first historic multiplex cinema, in the Cenisia/Borgo San Paolo district, operated by Circuito Cinema Torino srl (the Ventavoli family's local company, Via Pomba 7, which also runs the Nazionale and Romano) and programmed with the national Circuito Cinema network. Built by the brothers Alfredo and Ferdinando Brovetto, whose permit was granted on 12 March 1913; it opened a few months later as the Moderno-Monginevro with 280 seats (year only known, recorded as 1913-01-01). Rebuilt in 1938 with a fan-shaped hall and modernist corner facade, partly destroyed by bombing in November 1942 and reopened in 1944; bought by Bruno and Lorenzo Ventavoli in 1974 and converted in 1983 into what is described as Italy's first multiplex. Renovated in 2023 (interior design by CC Architects): new floors, wall coverings, linear lighting and custom furniture in its three screens, Sala Rossa and Sala Blu on the ground floor and Sala Grande, with latest-generation projectors (no per-screen projector specs published since).
