Commercial multiplex in Turin, Italy Part of Cityplex · Opened 1 Jan 1957
Cinema Massaua opened in 1957, designed by architect C. Grabbi, originally with 650 seats in the orchestra and 283 in the balcony (cinematreasures.org/theaters/56266). Today a 5-screen first-run multiplex (Sala 1-4 plus the 'Sala Emozioni', about 715 seats in total) run by Multiservice Consulting S.r.l., right outside the Massaua stop of Turin Metro line 1. Per the cinema's own site, every screen has Dolby 7.1 sound, and the Sala Emozioni adds native-4K laser projection, Dolby Atmos (the first Atmos room in Turin and its province) and VIP seats with LED lighting and USB charging. 3D screenings have been offered (3D surcharge on the 2022 price list). Every screen has wheelchair spaces, and the 'Movie Reading' subtitle/audio-description tablet service is available on request. In August 2025 the cinema was refurbished with EU co-funding (foyer and screens renovated, all seats replaced, old projectors swapped out) and reopened on 6 September 2025.
