Art-house cinema in Amsterdam, Netherlands · Opened 4 Sept 2014
A nine-screen independent cinema in the former tram-depot complex De Hallen, with a broad current and repertory programme. The Dutch cinema association lists 776 seats across the nine screens, but current public rental and booking materials do not publish room-by-room capacities or technical specifications. Other public totals disagree and don't break down by room either: Dutch Wikipedia gives 812 seats (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filmhallen) and the Cinema Context database gives 801 (https://cinemacontext.nl/id/B001696). Opened 2014-09-04 per contemporaneous press and Wikipedia (first public screenings, premiering with the Dutch film Nena on 2014-09-08); Cinema Context instead dates the venue to 2014-10-23, likely its official full-capacity opening once Screen 7's Parisienzaal interior (installed 2014-10-22) was finished. For human review: the venue's own website footer (filmhallen.nl, checked 2026-10) currently lists phone +31 85 000 4544 and info@filmhallen.nl, which differs from the phone number already on file here (+31 20 820 8122, also the number listed by the Europa Cinemas directory) — left unchanged pending confirmation of which line is current.
