Pathé City

Commercial multiplex in Amsterdam, Netherlands Part of Pathé · Opened 2 Dec 2010

An intimate seven-screen Pathé cinema near Leidseplein, used for mainstream, arthouse and special-event screenings. Housed in the former City Theater, designed by architect Jan Wils (with Oscar Rosendahl) and opened in 1935 as a single large hall seating well over a thousand; the facade was restored to its original appearance in a 2007-2010 renovation that subdivided the hall into the current seven auditoriums, reopening 2 December 2010. Note on capacity: this file's seven room capacities sum to 484, which matches a dedicated account of the 2010 renovation (reduced from 612 to 484 seats, see https://www.fantastischefilmlocaties.nl/hfn/pathe-city-in-amsterdam-vernieuwd/); Dutch Wikipedia's infobox for 'Pathé City' instead states a total of 600 (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Path%C3%A9_City) and the Wikipedia article on the City Theater building states 625 (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Theater_(gebouw_in_Amsterdam)). Left the per-room capacities unchanged pending human review of the discrepancy.
